About Hillview Baptist Church

Hillview Baptist Church exists to multiply believers who will deepen in their understanding and love for God, Grow together with other spiritually vibrant believers, and shine the Light of Jesus Christ to those in our community and beyond.

Our Staff

Our team of leaders are all passionate about serving others, in areas such as teaching and childcare, security, technology, or facilities maintenance. Each person exemplifies servant leadership, with many of them offering their time and talents in a strictly volunteer capacity. Some have grown up in Oregon, and come from different walks of life and backgrounds. Our team includes men and women, blue collar and white collar workers, young parents and retirees. Each of them displays and mirrors God’s heart for the home, the family, the church, and the community.

Our Pastor

Pastor Daniel spent most of his early years in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Raised in a devoted Christian home, he fully embraced Christ at the age of fifteen. Within a few months, God called Daniel to preach. After graduating from high school, he attended Pensacola Christian College where he earned his B.A. in Pastoral Ministries. After working on staff at churches in Oklahoma and Washington, he began pastoring Hillview in January 2004. Since then, God has used his passion for leading others to Christ and teaching them the Scriptures to see the church grown and lives built.

Pastor Daniel’s wife Bethany grew up in Japan, where her parents served as missionaries (and continue to serve to this day). She trusted Christ at the early age of 5. After graduating from high school, she attended Heartland Baptist Bible College where she earned a degree in Church Education. Daniel and Bethany have six children with whom they enjoy living life and serving the Lord together!

What we believe

Scripture

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God. It is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. For reasons of unity within the church and textual reliability, we choose to use the King James Version of the Bible.

2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ, eternally existing, is the only begotten Son of God, who became a sinless man in order to redeem us. He was born of a virgin and is fully God and fully man.

Luke 1:30-55; John 1:1-15; Philippians 2:5-8; Colossians 1:15

Sin

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell through sin, bringing not only physical death, but also spiritual death or eternal separation from God. Now all of man kind exists as a fallen race, with an inherited sinful nature.

Genesis 1:26-27; 2:16; 3:10-23; Romans 3:10-23; 6:23

Salvation

We believe that Jesus suffered and died as the payment for the sins of the whole world. He physically arose from the dead and then ascended into Heaven. Simple faith in this sacrifice is the only way for mankind to be saved from the judgment to come.

Luke 24; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 5:8-10; 1 Peter 3:18

Missions

We believe that Christ has called every member in the local church (an assembled body of believers) to tell others about the Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mark 16:15; 1 Corinthians 12:12; Ephesians 1:22-23

End Times

We believe that Jesus Christ will soon come again in the air to claim His people and to reward their services. Unbelievers left behind will go through a period called the Tribulation. After this, Christ will return to the earth to set up His Kingdom of one thousand years of righteous rule. All of this will climax when the unbelievers of all ages will stand at the Great White Throne to be Judged and cast into the Lake of Fire, separated from God forever, while the believers spend eternity in the fullness of joy in Heaven with the Lord.

Matthew 24:29-42; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; Revelation 19:11-20:13

What to Expect

By now, you might be considering a personal visit, but you’re still a little unsure of what you can really expect once you arrive. We hope this information will help answer some of your questions.

What’s here for my kids?

During all of our services, we have safe, clean nurseries available for children through 24 months old. If there is a need, our nursery workers have the ability to contact you through text message to your mobile phone.

Our children’s classes take place during our 10:30 AM service on Sunday mornings. We have a preschool class for children through first grade, and children in second through fifth grade can attend our junior church. In either class, your child will learn fun and exciting Bible stories that will help him understand the greatness of God. Our classes are taught by qualified, friendly teachers who make church memorable for your children.

On Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM, Kaleb and RuthAnn Partin and Isaiah and Joanna James work with the teenagers of Hillview Baptist Church. Not only do the teenagers hear a message from God’s Word that applies to the their lives each week, but all four adult leaders love and mentor the students, striving to nurture a heart for God in each young person that comes.

What is a morning service like?

During our morning service, you can expect a warm welcome, inspiring congregational music, and a message from God’s Word. The music begins the service and is followed by a clear, helpful, and challenging Bible message from Pastor Daniel. The entire service is a little over one hour in length. Following the morning service, we offer cookies and coffee in order to encourage friendships.

How should I dress?

Hillview Baptist Church has no dress code for members or guests. We will be delighted to have you as our guest and are happy to receive you however you may be dressed. Our ministry leaders dress in more traditional “Sunday attire”; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable on your visit here at Hillview Baptist Church!

What about my pets?

While we realize that for some of us, our “fur babies” are more family member than pet, we also want to be respectful of all our guests and members, including those who may have allergies or other reasons to not be around animals. Therefore, we ask that in general, most animals should be left at home. The exception to this is service or emotional support animals, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Such animals are permitted, provided that they remain under the handler’s control at all times are are not an unreasonable distraction to others.

What are the other services like?

On Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM, we have our “Bible Hour”, where Pastor Daniel goes verse-by-verse through a passage in the Bible and makes it relevant for day-to-day living.  It is conducted similarly to the Sunday morning service, but goes a little deeper into God’s Word.  This is a great opportunity to really plug in and understand what the Word is really saying!

On Sunday evenings, we have “Bible Fellowships”. This is an opportunity to study together in a small group setting.  You can get to know others similar in age in a more personal level by meeting for group activities, sharing prayer requests, and hearing a message from God’s Word. Our Bible Fellowships meet in classrooms at the church on Sundays at 5 PM.  If you’re interested in getting plugged in, contact Pastor Daniel or Bro. Nathan and they will point you in the right direction.

Am I expected to participate in the offering?

No. We don’t invite you to Hillview Baptist Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a family of friends, truth from God’s Word, and a place where you can grow in God’s grace. Please don’t feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.
